Cybersecurity is often discussed through technology, such as stronger systems, better detection, smarter automation, and more advanced security tools. However, behind every technology is something equally important, that is the people who understand how to use it, assess risks, respond to incidents, and make informed security decisions.

As digital environments continue to grow more complex, cybersecurity professionals are expected to do more than understand technical concepts. They need practical experience, critical thinking, communication skills, and the ability to apply their knowledge when facing real-world situations.

This need is becoming increasingly relevant across the region. The World Economic Forum identifies networks and cybersecurity among the fastest-growing skills globally, with 92% of employers in Southeast Asia expecting these skills to become more important by 2030.

At the same time, ISC2 found that cybersecurity organizations are increasingly concerned not only with workforce numbers, but also with whether professionals have the right skills to address evolving security challenges.

Preparing future cybersecurity professionals, therefore, requires more than simply introducing them to the field. It also requires a structured learning environment where theoretical knowledge can be connected with practical experience and guidance from people who work directly in the industry.

This is the foundation behind our cybersecurity academy, and the journey will continue with Cisometric Academy Batch 5.

Building cybersecurity skills beyond the classroom

Cisometric Academy is a CSR initiative established to support the development of the next generation of cybersecurity professionals in Indonesia. Through partnerships with universities, the program provides students with access to cybersecurity curricula, practical learning experiences, and mentorship from industry practitioners.

Since its introduction, one of the Academy’s main objectives has been to help bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical application. Cybersecurity concepts can often feel straightforward in the classroom, but applying them in actual environments requires a different level of understanding.

Cisometric Academy is designed to give participants greater exposure to this practical side of cybersecurity while strengthening the foundations through their academic learning.

Developing cybersecurity talent matters

Indonesia’s digital growth creates opportunities for businesses, institutions, and communities, but it also increases the importance of building stronger cybersecurity capabilities. Technology can provide organizations with stronger defenses, yet the effectiveness of those defenses still depends heavily on the people responsible for managing, evaluating, and improving them.

Cybersecurity talent development is therefore closely connected to cybersecurity maturity itself. Organizations need professionals who can understand technical risks, evaluate security controls, investigate weaknesses, communicate findings, and contribute to better security decisions.

Through Cisometric Academy, we aim to contribute to this development by supporting three key areas:

  • educating students through relevant cybersecurity curricula

  • providing greater exposure to practical industry perspectives, and

  • fostering a new generation of professionals who can contribute to Indonesia’s digital future.

Cisometric Academy Batch 5

Cybersecurity covers a wide range of disciplines, and different roles approach security challenges from different perspectives. Some professionals focus on identifying how systems can be compromised, while others evaluate whether an organization’s controls, processes, and security practices are working as intended.

For Cisometric Academy Batch 5, participants will be able to explore two learning tracks: Offensive Security and Information Security Audit.

1. Offensive Security

This program introduces participants to penetration testing and vulnerability assessment from an ethical security perspective. It is designed for students who are interested in understanding how weaknesses in systems, applications, and networks can be identified and evaluated.

The curriculum includes:

  • Cybersecurity fundamentals

  • Introduction to Penetration Testing

  • Web Application and API Pentesting

  • Local Privilege Escalation

  • Pivoting and Tunneling

  • Documentation and Reporting

  • Guidance for building a cybersecurity CV

Through these topics, participants can develop a better understanding of how security testing is approached systematically, from identifying potential weaknesses to documenting findings in a professional manner.

2. Information Security Audit

Cybersecurity does not always begin with identifying an attack. In many organizations, an equally important question is whether security controls, processes, and management systems are operating as intended.

This program introduces participants to the principles and processes behind evaluating information security practices. The program is suitable for students who are interested in areas such as governance, controls, compliance, Information Security Management Systems (ISMS), and audit processes.

The curriculum includes:

  • Introduction to Information Security Audit

  • Understanding first-, second-, and third-party audits

  • Implementation of the ISO/IEC 19011 framework

  • Auditor competencies

  • Implementation of ISMS audits

  • Pre-assessment case studies based on real-world scenarios

  • Individual assessment experience as an auditor

These materials are designed to help participants understand not only the standards and frameworks used in information security audits, but also how an auditor approaches assessments, develops findings, and evaluates an organization’s security practices.

Note: Security Operations, the third program within Cisometric Academy, is planned to become available starting from Batch 6.

Cisometric Academy Batch 5 will begin its program activities in August 2026, followed by the start of classes in September.

The current timeline is as follows:

  • Program Socialization: 21 August 2026

  • Program Registration: 24–28 August 2026

  • Selected Participants Announcement: 31 August 2026

  • Course Registration: 1–5 September 2026

  • Classes Begin: 14 September 2026

Who should join Cisometric Academy Batch 5?

Cisometric Academy Batch 5 is designed for students and aspiring cybersecurity professionals who want to develop their knowledge through a more structured and practical learning experience.

The program may be particularly relevant for:

  • Students who want to begin exploring cybersecurity through a structured learning path

  • Early-career talents interested in information security, audit, or offensive security

  • Students interested in penetration testing and vulnerability assessment

  • Students interested in Information Security Audit, ISMS, governance, controls, and compliance

  • Individuals who want greater exposure to how cybersecurity concepts are applied within the industry

  • Future cybersecurity professionals who want to prepare themselves for real-world digital security challenges

Participants do not need to have every aspect of their cybersecurity career figured out before joining. For many students, programs such as Cisometric Academy can also provide an opportunity to discover which areas of cybersecurity they are most interested in pursuing.

Learning through practice, cases, and industry perspectives

One of the key principles behind Cisometric Academy is that cybersecurity is best understood when theoretical concepts are connected with practical situations. Participants are therefore introduced to a structured learning path that combines cybersecurity fundamentals with exercises, case studies, discussions, and guidance from practitioners.

Throughout the program, participants can expect practical exposure to cybersecurity concepts, hands-on learning materials, mentorship from Cisometric practitioners, and opportunities to understand how security knowledge is applied within professional environments.

Feedback from previous Academy participants also reflects the value of this approach. Students from earlier batches described the learning experience as easy to follow and project-based, with practical case studies helping them understand unfamiliar cybersecurity concepts more clearly.

Preparing today’s learners for tomorrow’s cybersecurity challenges

The cybersecurity professionals Indonesia will rely on in the future are still learning today. They are studying their first frameworks, exploring their first security assessments, testing applications, working through audit scenarios, and beginning to understand how broad the cybersecurity field can be.

Providing the right learning environment at this stage can make an important difference.

Cisometric Academy Batch 5 continues Cisometric’s commitment to supporting that learning journey. Through our programs, participants will have the opportunity to strengthen their cybersecurity foundations while gaining greater exposure to practical and industry-relevant perspectives.
